Building on our successful collaboration across multiple UK locations, this project represents the next evolution of our partnership, bringing the distinctive Joe & The Juice atmosphere beyond the customer-facing stores and into the company’s internal workspace.
Illuma's goal was to extend the brand’s instantly recognisable identity, which is modern, minimalist, and energising, into a professional setting that embodies the same creativity and vibrancy found in their retail environments. The lighting design carefully balances functionality and brand expression, using tone, warmth, and spatial layering to mirror the inviting ambience of the stores while providing the clarity and comfort essential for a productive office.
By maintaining consistency in materiality, colour temperature, and overall visual rhythm, the lighting scheme creates a seamless transition between the commercial and workplace settings. The result is an office that not only reflects the Joe & The Juice aesthetic but also reinforces its lifestyle-driven brand ethos, creating a dynamic, social, and design-led space that inspires both employees and visitors alike.
In the main office space, Illuma’s Linia Blade S has been installed to provide precise, comfortable lighting. Its direct lens focuses light downwards onto work surfaces, minimising glare and creating a calm, focused environment. With an even spread of illumination, it is ideal for task areas, offering both functionality and a sleek, modern aesthetic.
Along the edges of the office, Linia Blade S Wallwash has been used to draw attention to the walls, showcasing art pieces that bring the distinctive Joe & The Juice identity into the space. This subtle layer of light adds depth and character, turning the office into a branded environment that feels both creative and professional.
Each Linia Blade S fitting delivers a sophisticated bi-directional output, blending a soft, reflected glow with precise downward illumination. Featuring 4000K lighting directed towards the ceiling and 3000K lighting focused on desks and working areas, the system balances warmth and brightness to create a comfortable, low-glare environment. Its adaptable design allows for flexible configurations and seamless integration within a variety of architectural settings, making it equally effective for both focused task areas and ambient lighting applications.
In this underground office, the reflected up light enhances the perception of height and daylight, transforming the space into one that feels brighter, more open, and naturally uplifting. The result is a layered and dynamic lighting scheme that combines technical performance with versatility, perfectly reinforcing the brand’s modern, minimalist aesthetic.
Alongside the Linia Blade S, Illuma’s Concepta has been used to highlight key areas such as collaboration areas, pathways, and feature walls. This spotlight complements the Linia Blade S perfectly, offering features that enhance its versatility in an office setting. It is dimmable, allowing the light level to be adjusted for different tasks or moods, from bright, focused illumination to softer, ambient light. Its selectable output lets you change the beam intensity, ensuring the right level of light reaches each space. The Concepta is also highly flexible, with a wide range of movement and the ability to be repositioned along its track to accommodate any future changes to the office layout, providing precise, targeted illumination exactly where it is needed.
Natural light filters through the daylight tiles above, bringing a sense of brightness and openness to the office, even on cloudy days. Where natural light cannot reach, our lighting solutions provide consistent illumination, ensuring the entire space is well-lit without creating harsh contrasts. Rather than competing with daylight, the artificial lighting complements it, enhancing the office environment by maintaining a natural rhythm and adding energy throughout the day.
Altogether, the lighting in the main office space avoids monotony. The Linia Blade S provides clarity and even illumination, while the Concepta spotlights add character and personality. Natural daylight brings a sense of freshness, enhancing the overall atmosphere. The combination of these different lighting styles creates a layered effect, adding depth and dimension to the space and making it feel both dynamic and welcoming.
In the meeting rooms, Linia Blade S is installed above the tables to provide an even spread of light, complemented by Infinia White Cone. Together, they create a professional and visually comfortable environment that adapts to different needs. The lighting can be bright and energising for collaborative work, adjusted for presentations with focused illumination, or balanced to provide shadow free light for video calls and meetings, ensuring the space is always flexible and functional.
Emlux Blade and Duo have been installed throughout the office to ensure safe movement in the event of a power failure. Positioned strategically, they provide clear illumination along escape routes, guiding staff towards exits and indicating the direction to move in. The combination of these emergency lighting solutions delivers both reliability and reassurance, maintaining safety without compromising the overall design of the space. Their discreet yet effective presence ensures that, even in an unexpected situation, the office remains navigable and secure for everyone.
Our 3-circuit track system provides maximum flexibility for both the lighting and the workspace. As desks and furniture are moved or reconfigured, the lighting can easily be repositioned along the track to suit the new layout. This ensures that illumination remains perfectly aligned with the functional needs of the space, allowing the office to adapt effortlessly to changing requirements without compromising on comfort or design.
Coffee Shop
In the coffee shop upstairs, Illuma’s Concepta spotlights have been used to trace the shape of the space, drawing attention to key features throughout the day. Mounted on 3-circuit linear track runs suspended above the seating, counter, and prep areas, the spotlights enhance both functionality and flexibility, creating a cohesive and refined aesthetic. By relying solely on this adaptable setup, the lighting highlights the interior without competing with the natural daylight that floods through the tall, open windows, instead complementing it to create a balanced and welcoming atmosphere. As evening falls, the Concepta transforms the space with a soft, warm glow that feels inviting and comfortable, ensuring the coffee shop attracts customers whatever the time of day or season.
Illuma’s Emlux Duo has been discreetly incorporated to ensure safety without compromising the store’s contemporary aesthetic. The luminaires provide reliable illumination during power interruptions while maintaining a minimal visual presence that aligns with the brand’s clean, modern interior design.
