Illuma Gets the Thumbs Up!

Illuma recently underwent a rigorous audit by Lumicom and are very pleased to announce that the company continues to meet its Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) obligations, since joining the scheme in 2006 and successfully passed!

Illuma are just 1 of the 139 lighting companies registered with the Lumicom scheme. The not for profit producer compliance scheme, is approved by the Environment Agency and created by the industry to help producers, selling into the non-household market, meet their obligations under the WEEE Regulations.

The primary obligation of Illuma and such producers is to ensure the environmentally sound disposal of those WEEE products for which they are responsible, more specifically to provide for the cost of treatment and recovery of their WEEE products.

Nick Turnbull-Ross, Quality Manager at Illuma spoke of his delight at how successful the audit went.

“It is reassuring to know that we are affiliated to an organisation dedicated to looking after the interest of the lighting industry in an ethical and responsible way. The audit result proved to us that we have been correctly recording and applying the requirements over the past 6 years. The introduction of our new Microsoft business IT system has further enhanced the data analysis and we should be ‘fighting fit’ for any changes in the future.”
