Compliance with the WEEE Directive / The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive, which came into force in July 2007, is EC legislation that requires all producers (manufacturers and importers) to take responsibility for treating & recycling their products at the end of their useful life.

As per The Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, all producers of lighting equipment should be registered with an approved compliance scheme. Illuma, as part of the Searchlight Electric Group, is a member of Ecosurety (www.ecosurety.com), the U.K’s fastest growing multi-regulation producer compliance scheme.

Our duties as a producer is to fi nance the recycling of waste electrical equipment when we make new products available.

Via Ecosurety, Illuma has put in place a comprehensive system for the collection and disposal of our non-household lighting equipment.

By calling the Ecosurety collections team (0845 094 2228) they will collect and recycle the WEEE at no cost to you as the end user. As the producer of the equipment, Illuma picks up this cost. In the meantime, we will continue to design products which maximise their life, and where possible, are upgradeable as new technologies emerge (e.g. LEDs).
